The Islamic Revolution started by Iraq invading Iran in Sept. 22 1980, the beliefs are that Iran military is to weak to fight back. Iraq were claiming territories inhabited by Arabs. A couple of the battles were won in favor of Iraq, but a supposedly weakened Iranian army surprisingly achieved success in defense. In 1981, On january 20, the hostages in the US embassy were released, after negotiations, where USA concedes to transfer money, as well as export military equipment to Iran. In June, Beni Sadr was removed from the of Ayatollah Khomeini and fled to France in July. In August 30, president Rajai and his rime minister were killed in a bombing. Soon 2 months later Hojatoleslam Seyed Ali Khameini was elected president.Khameini was one of the founders Of the Islamic Republican party.Which dominated the national legislature after the 1979 Revolution.
